Victoria, Canada - Canadian Mountain Biking

The Highlands (Millstream Road) is 18km from downtown Victoria on Canada's Vancouver Island. This area is riddled with single track. A few main fire roads provide easy climbing to the upper part of Skirt & Mini Skirt Mountains. From the fire roads you can take your choice of single track spurs that crisscross the whole area.

If you are new to the area don't worry, take all the single track turns you find none will be more then 10-15 min long before crossing a main access road. If you get lost just head downhill on any of the main roads and you will end up back in civilization. You can easily put together a 2 hour ride and never leave single track. Couple of nice lookouts up top give views of Victoria and the Sooke Hills. The riding here is as technical as you want it to be. The hills are short (700 feet of climbing) but the trails are so varied that there is something for everyone.

To get here, drive north towards Nanaimo on the #1, take a right at the first light past Thetis Lake and drive 3km until you see the concrete barriers and a steel gate where the power lines cross the road. Fairly obvious on the weekends as there will always be a few cars parked.
