A Mountain Bike Road Trip - MBR Mountain Biking in Mammoth Lakes
To get to Mammoth Lakes from Bass Lake, we had to travel over the 9,945' Tioga Pass in Yosemite National Park. Aside from a few road construction projects, the trip was an easy three hour drive.
Arriving by 3 pm gave us enough time to set up camp and do an early evening ride. The obvious choice was nearby Mammoth Mountain Bike Park. Actually this turned out to be the ideal time to ride as there was no one on the trails and the temperature had dropped to the mid 70's.
While Mammoth Mountain was fun, we were looking for something a little more adventurous. After asking a few locals where they like to ride (including one gas station attendent), the resounding answer was Lower Rock Creek. So after taking a day off to go fishing at Lake Mary, we headed 15 miles south to ride the Lower Rock Creek Trail.
