The Hump is one of many new packs that combine water-carrying systems, popularized by CamelBak, and tool packs, to create an all-in-one gear system.
Even though the Forest Hump can carry everything you need, it is still surprisingly small, thanks to the ingenious use of space.
When strapped on, you have convenient access to your energy bar via the "Chow System" pocket located on the shoulder strap. Also accessible are two wing pockets, which are great places to store cash and keys.
Inside the main pocket are elastic bands that keep important tools in place. For the rest of your gear you have still have three mesh pockets, a spare tube holder and a mini-pump slot.
The pack itself is very comfortable and stable, even when going airborne. Our test version came with a waist belt (more like a chest belt) intended for this very reason. Although the pack performed very well with or without the belt, we still found that it provided a useful way to keep the drinking tube under control.
Perhaps the greatest thing about this pack is that it is affordable. The $53 price tag comes in $20 less than similar products that are either too big, or don't have the same level of detail.
After you've geared up, why don't you consider taking on one of the mountain bike meccas? Nobody can resist the lure of Moab Area Mountain Biking.
