World Cup #1 - Lisbon Portugal

This first World Cup X-Country event of 1996 was held in Lisbon, Portugal this past weekend (April 13 & 14). Europeans dominated the men's division taking all top ten places, while North America took seven of the top ten women's placements

Don Myrah Breaks Collarbone

In a training run for this year's first World Cup event, Don Myrah, one of the "rocket boyz" for the newly formed VW/Trek race team and US Olympic mountain bike team hopeful, broke his collarbone. Myrah apparently clipped his peddle on a tree stump, launching him over his handlebars. The impact from the fall injured the same collarbone that Myrah has broken twice before. It is unclear how much this injury will impact Myrah's chances to join Tinker Juarez as the US Olympic representatives at the July 30th cross country event.
