World Cup #2 - Belgium

Frenchman Christophe Dupouey (Sunn-Chipie) won the men's XC event on Sunday and Canadian Alison Sydor (Volvo/Cannondale) won the women's XC held on Saturday.

After beating Juli Furtado (GT) in a sprint at last weekend's World Cup event, Sydor won this weekend's race in a more convincing fashon, finishing 47 seconds ahead of Furtado. For Dupouey, who finished third at last weekend's World Cup XC event, this was his first World Cup victory ever.

Europeans again dominated the men's race by taking the top ten placings. Ned Overand (Mt. Dew/Specialized), the top placing US rider, finished 25th. On the other hand, the US had another strong finish in the women's field taking five of the top 11 placings.
