Martinez repeats, Sydor regains

After winning his first ever World Cup event last week, Miguel Martinez (Sunn-Chipie) repeated thi week winning a grueling 2 hour 48 minute men's cross country race. The back-to-back wins have rocketed Martinez to second place in the UCI World Cup standings.

The current UCI leader, Thomas Frischknecht, finished more than six minutes back, but still holds a 21 point advantage of Martinez.

Europe has dominated the men's field all season long, and this week was no different. The top placing Canadian rider, Warren Sallenbach (Ritchey), finished 12th, and the top US rider, Travis Brown (Trek/VW), finished 13th.

On the other hand, North America has been highly competitive in the women's field all season long. Allison Sydor (Volvo/Cannondale) regained her lead in the UCI World Cup standings by winning her fourth World Cup race of the season. If not for a training run accident last week, Sydor could have been a perfect five for five right now.
